Birds update.

it's 9:08. I'm working out details in the cast-list tonight. It may take awhile to get everybody into the best spot. As promised, the list will be posted Friday or Monday, and here as soon as it's finished.

For everyone at callbacks:
Rehearsals start on Monday. Plan on a read-through Monday after school. 9 weeks to go from Monday!

cluck.

BHS Spring Comedy Auditions: Aristophanes' The Birds...

OK everybody: here's the plan.

1st round auditions for the spring play will be Feb. 13 and 14 (Monday and Tuesday). Pick either day and sign up for a reading and some group work. Your time committment is a single 1/2 hour time frame on one of those two days. I know we're bumping into Valentine's day... but the school and our own calendars are very full, and these are the only consecutive days that were available, so... bring your date/sweetie/honey to auditions!

If needed, we'll have callbacks on Thurs. Feb. 16, possibly Fri. Feb. 17. Plan for a bit longer reading on this day-- if you are asked to be at callbacks, you'll read several times in different groups -- from 3:30 - 5:30 or 6:00 ish. The cast list will be posted either Friday or Monday -- I may post here first, if I make my decision early in the weekend.

Of course, if you've got a major conflict the week of auditions, but you really want to be in the spring play, come talk to me and we'll see what we can work out schedule-wise!

Our first run through (full cast required) will be Monday Feb. 20. (Wa-HOO!). The full rehearsal calendar should be available at auditions.

Details on the show:
I've included some links to other productions of the Birds. You may want to read a summary or check it out. Many of the roles could be cast in either gender, so we have a fair amount of flexibility. Again, I'm looking for an ensemble cast that is willing to work together, have fun, and be creative. Cast size is SMALLER than the fall show, which should aid our productivity efforts.

Calling ALL techies!
Matt has decided to go gonzo for his last show at BHS, and we want to help him in his efforts. Anybody interested in theatre but willing to work in the shadows is welcome to fill out a Tech interest form. Help is needed with publicity, box office, set construction (possibly welding), costume construction and organization, makeup, props construction, rehearsal assistance, research and lighting, to name just a few areas.

Pulling The Birds production crew together [updated]

  • Albrecht's directing
  • Matt's set designing and constructing
  • Jen Jen is lighting designing and assistant directing
  • Alex has offered to do some costume designing
  • Nina plans on stage managing
  • Kim wants a promotion and plans on doing more than running
  • Logan fulfills a life-long dream and will do some board operating.

I've heard rumblings from other folks but nothing definite -- see me if you're interested in working on the show and don't want to go the performing route. We'll get going on tech crews asap. Based on some crazy coffee conversations with Cummings, we've got some cool tasks ahead of us. Umm. {cough anybody in TV pro reading this?}

Tairy Fales set to perform Friday Feb. 10

Yes, this production does exist!

BHS Drama's student-driven show, Tairy Fales, a collection of student produced works loosely associated with fairy tales gone bad (or goofy?) is slated for performance Friday Feb. 10 in the Little Theatre. Four groups have worked up their own productions under the creative guidance of advisor Matt Cummings. Bring your friends and your sense of humor! feed a starving artist... donations welcome.
